Install Eclipse on Ubuntu

Please follow the steps below:

1. 1. Download Eclipse from: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads. For example pick:
      
      C++

      eclipse-SDK-3.7-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz

      1	eclipse-SDK-3.7-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz

   2. Extract the file

1. Move it to opt
   
   C++

   mv eclipse /opt/ sudo chown -R root:root /opt/eclipse sudo chmod -R +r /opt/eclipse

   1 2 3

   mv eclipse /opt/ sudo chown -R root:root /opt/eclipse sudo chmod -R +r /opt/eclipse

2. Create a link
   
   C++

   sudo touch /usr/bin/eclipse sudo chmod 755 /usr/bin/eclipse sudo vi /usr/bin/eclipse //Paste the following: #!/bin/sh #export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME="/usr/lib/mozilla/" export ECLIPSE_HOME="/opt/eclipse" $ECLIPSE_HOME/eclipse $*

   sudo touch /usr/bin/eclipse sudo chmod 755 /usr/bin/eclipse sudo vi /usr/bin/eclipse   //Paste the following:   #!/bin/sh #export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME="/usr/lib/mozilla/" export ECLIPSE_HOME="/opt/eclipse" $ECLIPSE_HOME/eclipse $*

3. Create a desktop entry
   
   C++

   sudo vi /usr/share/applications/eclipse.desktop //Paste the following: [Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=Eclipse Comment=Eclipse IDE Exec=eclipse Icon=/opt/eclipse/icon.xpm Terminal=false Type=Application Categories=GNOME;Application;Development; StartupNotify=true

   sudo vi /usr/share/applications/eclipse.desktop   //Paste the following: [Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=Eclipse Comment=Eclipse IDE Exec=eclipse Icon=/opt/eclipse/icon.xpm Terminal=false Type=Application Categories=GNOME;Application;Development; StartupNotify=true

4. Search for eclipse then move it to the tool bar
